Boost your SEO: Alt Text
Wednesday, June 21, 2017
Improving SEO (Search Engine Optimization) for on-page content and the page itself can be done by creating good content and proper title and meta tags. But what about images? It turns out that images can also help give your page an SEO boost in addition to providing better usability for visitors with disabilities.
Images need extra description in order to be indexed by search engines. This is where alt (alternative) text come into use. Alt text allows for an alternative description of the image subject. If you have an image of a planet in space you would just need to add a short, descriptive explanation. This is a good time to use any keywords you might have for your page. However, you will want to make sure not to overuse the same phrase or use “image of” or “picture of”.
