Anchor text is part of page content that gets overlooked from an SEO standpoint. The visible text on a page that is hyperlinked is referred to as anchor text. Something as straight-forward as text can still have strategy behind it. Search engine crawlers and users get a better idea of what the content of the hyperlinked page will be without actually going to it.

Following best practices with anchor text can help your visitors and your on-page SEO. Keep your anchor text brief and mostly nouns. Anchor text such as “click here” and “view more” doesn’t offer much insight to where the hyperlink will take your visitors.
