Let's Get Social

Wednesday, September 13, 2017

There are many social media sites and billions of people using them each day. Featuring your company on the right platforms is important. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Google+, Twitter, and Pinterest are some of the top sites that will get you exposure. Here is how they work and how you can maximize your outcomes:

  • Facebook (1.55 billion users)
Facebook has pages and groups in addition to personal profiles. Setting up your non-profit as it’s own page is the first step. You can also use hashtags to categorize any posts you make from your business page. After that you can choose to start a group based on topics or interests in your region that align with your mission statement. Facebook also has a “live” feature to record real-time video of yourself, current events, or even weekly updates.
  • YouTube (1 billion users)
YouTube provides a medium for recording and displaying video. You can use YouTube for hosting videos about your business and product or services updates. Videos can be shared across different platforms such as Facebook or Twitter.
  • Instagram (400 million users)
Instagram allows you to share photos after applying a filter to them along with short videos. Graphics and short videos can be tagged with hashtags to make them stand out in certain categories. Instagram posts can also be shared across different platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, or Tumblr.
  • Twitter (320 million users)
Twitter is a short-form posting social platform that allows for media sharing. Like Facebook, Twitter also has “live” video and hashtags. Graphics, such as static images or even GIFs, can be shared to communicate updates about your business.
